Bitfinex Securities Launches $50M Tokenized Nickel Offering

Bitfinex Securities Launches $50M Tokenized Nickel Offering

Bitfinex Securities has opened a $50 million investment offering tied to tokenized nickel, marking another step toward bringing physical commodities onto blockchain-based financial markets. The ALKN instrument, issued by Luxembourg-based Alkemya, is backed by approximately $1.6 billion worth of high-purity nickel wire held in Swiss custody.

Tokenized Nickel Brings Industrial Commodities On-Chain

Bitfinex Securities has launched a $50 million offering for ALKN, a blockchain-based investment instrument linked to nickel assets held by Alkemya.

The product is being developed by Alkemya Metacore, the Luxembourg-based parent company, with its commercial operations connected to Singapore-based GTX and custody arrangements in Switzerland.

According to the offering structure, the underlying nickel inventory consists of high-purity nickel wire valued at roughly $1.6 billion. The physical metal provides the asset backing for the tokenized investment.

The offering represents a broader attempt to connect traditional commodity markets with blockchain infrastructure, potentially giving eligible investors access to industrial assets through a digitally issued financial instrument.

Funding Nickel Technology and Industrial Applications

Capital raised through the offering will support Green Transitional Metals, an operating subsidiary of Alkemya.

The company is focused on developing and commercializing engineered nickel products for a range of industries, including:

  • Electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding
  • Aerospace and defense
  • Semiconductor manufacturing
  • Power infrastructure
  • Industrial systems
  • Green hydrogen
  • Metals recovery and recycling

Nickel plays a critical role across modern industrial supply chains, particularly in applications requiring high conductivity, durability and resistance to corrosion.

By linking investment capital to physical nickel inventory and downstream industrial development, Alkemya is positioning the project at the intersection of commodity markets, advanced manufacturing and digital finance.

ALKN Targets Regulated Digital-Asset Markets

ALKN is structured as a listed instrument of Alkemya Metacore, rather than simply functioning as a cryptocurrency token.

The offering is also notable for its connection to El Salvador’s digital-asset regulatory framework, under which it is being presented as one of the first tokenized nickel offerings and the first tokenized commodity issued under that framework.

Primary subscriptions are available to eligible investors through October 15, subject to the applicable offering requirements.

The structure highlights an emerging model in which blockchain technology is used as the infrastructure for issuing, recording and transferring investment interests connected to tangible assets.

Tokenization Expands Beyond Financial Assets

The nickel offering comes as financial markets increasingly experiment with tokenizing assets that traditionally trade through specialized commodity or securities infrastructure.

Tokenization can potentially make ownership records easier to transfer while allowing physical assets to interact with blockchain-based settlement systems.

For investors, however, tokenized commodities remain different from conventional cryptocurrencies. The investment ultimately depends on factors such as the underlying commodity, custody arrangements, legal ownership structure, issuer obligations and applicable regulation.

The quality and accessibility of the physical backing are therefore just as important as the blockchain technology used to represent the asset.

Nickel Becomes Part of the Real-World Asset Trend

The ALKN offering reflects the expanding real-world asset (RWA) sector, where financial institutions and blockchain companies are attempting to bring bonds, commodities, real estate and other traditional assets onto digital networks.

Nickel presents an interesting use case because it is an industrial commodity with applications extending across technology, energy and manufacturing.

If tokenized commodity markets gain wider adoption, blockchain infrastructure could eventually provide investors with more efficient ways to access certain physical assets while connecting them with digital settlement systems.

For now, Bitfinex Securities’ $50 million ALKN offering represents a significant experiment in combining physical nickel reserves, regulated digital assets and blockchain-based capital markets.
