Nara Raises $500K Pre-Seed From YZi Labs to Build Yield-Bearing Dollar Asset

Nara Raises $500K Pre-Seed From YZi Labs to Build Yield-Bearing Dollar Asset

Nara has secured $500,000 in pre-seed funding from YZi Labs, the investment firm formerly known as Binance Labs, following the startup’s completion of Season 4 of the EASY Residency program in Bhutan. The funding will support Nara’s development of NaraUSD, a yield-generating dollar-denominated asset designed around cross-border payment financing.

Nara Targets Real-World Payment Flows

Nara is developing NaraUSD, a digital dollar product that aims to generate returns by financing real-world cross-border payment activity.

Rather than relying primarily on crypto-market lending or speculative trading strategies, the project intends to connect its tokenized dollar asset with actual payment flows.

The model seeks to transform payment receivables and related financing opportunities into an onchain financial product, potentially giving investors access to dollar-denominated yields that are less directly correlated with traditional crypto-market movements.

Nara says its objective is to target double-digit annualized USD returns, although the eventual performance of the product will depend on the underlying payment-financing activity, risk management and market conditions.

YZi Labs Investment Follows Bhutan Residency

The investment comes after Nara completed EASY Residency Season 4, a 10-week startup program backed by YZi Labs.

The second half of the program brought participating founders to Gelephu Mindfulness City in Bhutan, where teams worked on their projects and developed their businesses in an intensive environment.

The program also included access to YZi Labs’ Builder Fund, with investments of up to $500,000 available to qualifying companies.

Nara presented its project during the program’s Demo Day, where the team pitched to investors and other prominent figures, including Changpeng Zhao (CZ) and the King of Bhutan.

The subsequent $500,000 financing provides Nara with capital to continue developing its product and expanding its approach to tokenized payment financing.

Stablecoins Move Toward Financial Infrastructure

The deal also reflects YZi Labs’ broader interest in the evolution of stablecoins and digital payment infrastructure.

Stablecoins have increasingly moved beyond their original role as trading instruments, becoming tools for cross-border payments, treasury management and financial settlement.

Nara is attempting to take that development a step further by combining stablecoin-like dollar exposure with financing linked to real economic activity.

If successful, the model could provide another mechanism for bringing traditional financial cash flows onto blockchain networks while giving investors access to alternative sources of yield.

Real-World Assets Become a Key Crypto Theme

Nara’s approach falls within the broader real-world asset (RWA) trend, in which financial claims, receivables and other offchain assets are represented or financed through blockchain infrastructure.

The attraction is straightforward: instead of generating returns solely from crypto-native markets, protocols can potentially connect digital assets with established economic activity.

Payment financing is particularly relevant because international commerce generates substantial short-term financing needs. Businesses often face a gap between sending invoices, completing transactions and ultimately receiving payment.

Nara aims to use that financing requirement as the foundation for its dollar-denominated product.

Risk and Execution Remain Important

The proposed model also comes with risks that investors will need to evaluate carefully.

Yield generated from payment financing ultimately depends on the quality of the underlying counterparties, transaction structures and repayment mechanisms. Tokenization does not eliminate credit, liquidity, operational or regulatory risks associated with the underlying financial activity.

Nara will therefore need to demonstrate how payment flows are selected, how financing is structured, how losses are managed and how NaraUSD holders are protected.

The project’s ability to maintain its targeted returns while managing those risks will be an important test as it moves beyond the early development stage.

Nara Joins YZi Labs’ Stablecoin Investment Thesis

For YZi Labs, the investment adds another company to its growing focus on stablecoins, payments and blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

Rather than treating stablecoins simply as digital versions of fiat currency, the emerging generation of projects is attempting to use them as building blocks for new financial products.

Nara’s $500,000 pre-seed round gives the company additional resources to develop that vision.

With NaraUSD, the startup is betting that the next evolution of digital dollars will not only involve moving money onchain, but also connecting tokenized capital to the real-world payment flows that drive global commerce.
