Crypto payments platform Oobit has taken a major step in its Latin American expansion by integrating with Pix, Brazil’s widely used instant payment network. The move enables users to seamlessly convert Brazilian reais into USDT (Tether) and use the stablecoin for everyday purchases through the Oobit app.
With Pix serving more than 170 million users—covering roughly 93% of Brazil’s adult population—the integration significantly broadens Oobit’s reach in one of the world’s fastest-growing digital payments markets.
Bridging Traditional Payments and Crypto
The new integration allows Brazilian users to fund their Oobit accounts directly through Pix. Once funds are deposited, they are converted into USDT, enabling users to make fast crypto payments while also holding stablecoins as a digital savings option.
According to Oobit, the entire experience is designed to feel identical to using a traditional banking application. The blockchain technology operates behind the scenes, allowing users to benefit from crypto without navigating complex wallets or lengthy conversion processes.
Making Crypto Payments Simple
One of the biggest hurdles to mainstream crypto adoption has been usability. Oobit’s Pix integration aims to remove that barrier by offering a familiar payment experience while leveraging blockchain for settlement.
Users can:
- Deposit Brazilian reais instantly via Pix.
- Convert funds directly into USDT.
- Pay merchants within seconds.
- Store value in a dollar-pegged stablecoin.
This streamlined process allows consumers to access digital assets without changing their everyday payment habits.
Brazil Becomes a Strategic Growth Market
Brazil has rapidly emerged as one of Oobit’s most important markets.
The company reports that user activity in the country has grown by more than 200% since launch. On average, active users spend over $400 per month through the platform while completing around 20 transactions monthly, helped by Oobit’s crypto-linked card functionality.
These figures suggest that Brazilian consumers are increasingly embracing stablecoins for real-world spending rather than simply holding them as investments.
Backed by Tether
Oobit’s expansion follows a $25 million funding round led by Tether, the issuer of USDT, with participation from several prominent crypto investors, including Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko.
The investment reflects Tether’s broader strategy of expanding stablecoin utility beyond crypto trading and into everyday commerce.
By supporting payment platforms like Oobit, Tether aims to make USDT more accessible for daily transactions across global markets.
A Boost for Stablecoin Adoption in Latin America
Latin America has become one of the fastest-growing regions for stablecoin adoption, driven by rising demand for faster payments, lower transaction costs, and access to dollar-denominated digital assets.
By connecting directly to Brazil’s national payment infrastructure, Oobit is positioning itself at the intersection of traditional finance and blockchain technology.
As stablecoins continue gaining traction for everyday payments, integrations with established payment systems like Pix could play a significant role in bringing digital assets to mainstream consumers across the region.
