MANTRA Chain, a Layer-1 blockchain focused on real-world asset tokenization, has halted its network and frozen all transactions while its engineering and security teams investigate an unspecified incident.
The team announced the suspension on Aug. 21, saying the network had been stopped as a precaution while the nature and scope of the incident were being assessed. All endpoints and transactions are currently frozen, according to the project’s statement.
MANTRA has advised users not to initiate deposits, withdrawals or other transactions involving the network until further notice.
Network Halted as Investigation Continues
MANTRA said it has not yet determined the root cause of the incident and has not provided a timeline for restoring network operations.
According to the project’s status information, its engineering and security teams are working alongside external partners to investigate the issue. MANTRA has also notified cryptocurrency exchanges and ecosystem partners and asked them to pause transactions involving its native token until the investigation is completed.
The suspension means users may currently be unable to move assets to or from the MANTRA network, creating additional uncertainty around the accessibility and liquidity of assets connected to the ecosystem.
At this stage, the project has not characterized the incident as a hack, exploit or security breach, and no specific details about what triggered the network shutdown have been disclosed.
MANTRA Token Falls Nearly 10%
The uncertainty surrounding the incident has weighed on MANTRA’s native MANTRA (MANTRA) token.
The token was trading at approximately $0.0044, down nearly 10% over the previous 24 hours at the time of reporting.
The price reaction highlights the sensitivity of token markets to network interruptions, particularly when deposits, withdrawals and onchain transactions are temporarily suspended.
Users should wait for official updates from MANTRA and their respective exchanges before attempting transactions involving the affected network.
MANTRA Was Already Undergoing a Major Restructuring
The latest disruption comes during a significant period of change for MANTRA.
In June, MANTRA announced that its strategic backer, Inveniam Capital Partners, planned to acquire the platform, with the transaction expected to close in the third quarter of 2026.
The proposed acquisition follows a difficult period for the project. MANTRA’s token experienced a major collapse in 2025, wiping out billions of dollars in market value and prompting efforts to rebuild confidence in the ecosystem.
The company subsequently underwent restructuring and workforce reductions as it attempted to stabilize operations.
What Happens Next?
The immediate priority is determining the cause of the incident and assessing whether user funds, infrastructure or transaction processing were affected.
Until MANTRA provides additional information, the full impact remains unclear. The project’s decision to freeze the network and coordinate with exchanges suggests that the team is prioritizing containment and investigation before restoring normal operations.
For now, MANTRA users should avoid sending funds to the network or attempting transactions involving MANTRA until the project confirms that services have been safely restored.
