Tokyo-listed Eole Inc. has become the first publicly traded Japanese company to disclose a purchase of Hyperliquid’s HYPE token, marking another step in the expansion of corporate crypto treasuries beyond Bitcoin and Ether.
The company purchased 1,078.2547 HYPE for approximately 10.08 million yen ($66,000) on July 28 and plans to expand its total HYPE investment to as much as 100 million yen, or roughly $611,000, by the end of August.
The move comes as another Japanese digital asset holder, Quantum Solutions, takes the opposite approach, selling Ether to finance the expansion of its artificial intelligence infrastructure business.
Eole Adds HYPE to Its Corporate Crypto Treasury
Eole, which trades on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market, acquired its initial HYPE position at an average price of approximately 9,352 yen ($57.15) per token.
Based on its review of publicly available corporate disclosures, Eole described the transaction as the first disclosed HYPE acquisition by a listed Japanese company.
The initial purchase represents only part of the company’s strategy.
Eole intends to accumulate HYPE through multiple transactions before the end of August, eventually building a position worth up to 100 million yen.
The move broadens Japan’s emerging corporate digital asset treasury market, which has largely centered on Bitcoin and, to a lesser extent, Ether.
HYPE Becomes Part of Eole’s ‘Neo Crypto Bank’ Strategy
HYPE is the native token of Hyperliquid, an onchain trading ecosystem best known for its decentralized perpetual futures market.
Eole plans to hold HYPE alongside Bitcoin as a strategic asset supporting its broader “Neo Crypto Bank” initiative, which the company introduced in October 2025.
The strategy is focused on developing financial infrastructure for an increasingly automated economy in which AI agents could independently execute transactions, make payments and enter agreements through programmable systems.
Eole stressed that the HYPE acquisition is intended to serve a broader operational strategy rather than functioning solely as a speculative treasury investment.
The company views ownership of blockchain-native assets as a way to deepen its involvement in onchain finance, Web3 infrastructure and smart contract-based financial services.
Eole Explores Yield and Hedging Strategies
Eole is also considering ways to actively use its growing digital asset portfolio.
Potential strategies include generating revenue by lending crypto assets, while using traditional financial markets to hedge some of the price volatility associated with those holdings.
The company could also integrate its digital asset reserves with products and services developed under the Neo Crypto Bank initiative.
Rather than concentrating its strategy around a single cryptocurrency, Eole plans to build a diversified portfolio that could support a broader ecosystem of automated financial products.
The HYPE purchase therefore represents both a treasury allocation and a strategic bet on the expansion of decentralized trading infrastructure.
Quantum Solutions Moves in the Opposite Direction
While Eole is increasing its exposure to crypto, fellow Japanese public company Quantum Solutions is converting part of its digital asset treasury into capital for AI infrastructure.
Quantum said its GPT Pals Studio subsidiary sold 1,000 ETH on July 30 for approximately $1.9 million.
The proceeds will be directed toward the company’s AI infrastructure operations, including investments related to data centers.
The transaction marked Quantum’s second Ether sale, bringing cumulative disposals to approximately 1,904 ETH.
Following the latest transaction, the company retained about 4,764.80 ETH, roughly 29% below its peak holdings.
Quantum Leaves Room for Additional Ether Sales
Quantum has also increased the amount of Ether it is authorized to sell.
Its cumulative sales limit was raised from 1,875 ETH to 4,375 ETH, potentially allowing the company to dispose of another 2,471 ETH.
That amount represents roughly 52% of its remaining Ether position, although Quantum has not committed to selling the entire authorized amount.
The increased flexibility gives the company the option to convert additional digital assets into funding if its AI infrastructure expansion requires more capital.
Japan’s Corporate Crypto Strategies Begin to Diverge
The contrasting strategies adopted by Eole and Quantum Solutions illustrate how corporate digital asset treasuries are becoming more diverse.
Rather than simply holding Bitcoin as a long-term reserve asset, companies are increasingly linking cryptocurrency allocations to specific operational strategies.
For Eole, HYPE and Bitcoin are intended to support a broader vision around onchain finance, programmable payments and AI-driven financial activity.
Quantum Solutions, meanwhile, is treating its Ether holdings as a source of capital that can be redeployed into physical AI infrastructure.
Eole’s decision is particularly notable because it expands the Japanese corporate treasury model into a more specialized blockchain-native asset.
If other listed companies follow, Japan’s corporate crypto market could evolve from straightforward Bitcoin and Ether accumulation toward treasury strategies tied directly to DeFi protocols, blockchain infrastructure and emerging AI-powered financial ecosystems.
