BitMart announces orderly shutdown of trading platform, operations to end by January 2027

BitMart announces orderly shutdown of trading platform, operations to end by January 2027

Cryptocurrency exchange BitMart has announced plans to wind down its trading platform, with all core trading services set to cease over the coming months before the company officially ends platform operations on 31 January 2027.

The exchange said the decision followed a comprehensive review of its operating conditions, market environment and long-term strategic direction. While expressing regret over the move, BitMart thanked its global community of users, partners and employees for their support throughout its operations.

To ensure an orderly transition, the company has published a phased shutdown schedule covering registrations, deposits, trading services and withdrawals.

New Registrations and Deposits to End Immediately

As part of the wind-down process, new user registrations will be suspended beginning 26 July 2026, alongside the gradual shutdown of both cryptocurrency and fiat deposit services.

The company warned users not to send assets to BitMart once deposits are disabled, as funds transferred after the deadline may not be automatically credited to customer accounts.

Trading Services Will Be Phased Out

BitMart will gradually discontinue its trading products over the coming weeks.

From 26 July 2026, futures accounts will move into reduce-only mode, preventing traders from opening new positions. Spot markets will also stop accepting new trading orders, while services including Copy Trading, Grid Trading, API Trading and other automated trading tools will be progressively disabled.

Users are encouraged to cancel all outstanding orders before the deadlines, although any remaining open orders will eventually be cancelled automatically by the platform.

The exchange plans to completely discontinue spot trading, futures trading and all other trading services on 26 August 2026.

Any futures positions still open at that time may be settled automatically using the applicable mark price or settlement rules in effect when trading ends.

Investment Products Also Being Discontinued

BitMart confirmed that additional products, including BitMart Earn, staking, lending and Launchpad services, will also be phased out.

The company said separate announcements will provide detailed instructions covering redemption procedures, settlements and product-specific timelines for affected users.

Platform Will Officially Close in January 2027

Although trading will end much earlier, BitMart intends to officially terminate platform operations at 15:59 UTC on 31 January 2027.

Following the shutdown, users will temporarily retain access to their accounts to review historical records and submit withdrawal requests under procedures that will be communicated closer to the closure date.

Users Encouraged to Withdraw Assets Early

BitMart strongly recommends that customers complete identity verification, close all open trading positions and withdraw their assets well before the August trading deadline.

The company advises users to avoid waiting until the final days, as withdrawal requests may increase significantly during the shutdown period.

Customers are also encouraged to download and securely store important account information, including trading history, deposit records and withdrawal records before the platform closes permanently.

Withdrawal Requests May Require Additional Verification

Although withdrawals will remain available during the wind-down period, BitMart noted that some requests may undergo additional compliance and security reviews.

These checks may include identity verification, Know Your Customer (KYC) reviews, login and device verification, blockchain transaction analysis, source-of-funds assessments, sanctions screening and Travel Rule compliance.

In certain cases, users may be asked to provide supporting documentation such as proof of identity, proof of address, evidence of fund ownership or confirmation of withdrawal wallet ownership.

Processing times may also vary depending on blockchain congestion, asset type, withdrawal volume and regulatory requirements.

Company Warns Users About Scams

BitMart cautioned customers that exchange shutdowns often attract scammers attempting to impersonate company representatives.

The exchange stressed that it will never request passwords, two-factor authentication codes, private keys, recovery phrases or payments for so-called “priority withdrawals” or “account recovery fees.”

Users have been advised to rely exclusively on BitMart’s official website, mobile application, registered email communications and authorised customer support channels for information throughout the wind-down process.

End of Operations Marks Major Industry Development

BitMart’s planned closure represents another significant development within the cryptocurrency exchange industry, where platforms continue adapting to evolving market conditions, increasing regulatory requirements and shifting business strategies.

While the company has not disclosed specific financial reasons behind the decision, it emphasised that the shutdown will be conducted in a transparent, orderly and responsible manner.

For existing customers, the priority now is ensuring accounts are fully verified, positions are closed and assets are safely withdrawn before the exchange permanently concludes its operations in early 2027.
