Bitcoin ETFs Erase Much of 2026 Outflows as Inflows Reach Seven-Day Streak

Bitcoin ETFs Erase Much of 2026 Outflows as Inflows Reach Seven-Day Streak

US spot Bitcoin ETFs continued their strong recovery on Tuesday, extending their positive streak to seven consecutive trading sessions. The latest inflows have pushed August’s total above $3 billion and significantly reduced the funds’ net outflow deficit for 2026.

Bitcoin ETFs Continue Strong Inflow Run

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds attracted approximately $314.4 million in net inflows on Tuesday, marking their seventh straight day of positive flows.

According to SoSoValue data, the latest inflows brought August’s cumulative ETF inflows to roughly $3.03 billion. With four trading sessions remaining in the month, August is now within about $390 million of October 2025’s monthly inflow figure.

The renewed demand has substantially improved the funds’ 2026 performance. Their year-to-date net outflow deficit has fallen by more than half to approximately $2.26 billion.

Total net assets across the US spot Bitcoin ETF market have climbed to around $99.05 billion, while cumulative net inflows since the products launched have reached approximately $54.36 billion.

Bitcoin Briefly Reclaims $80,000

The ETF recovery comes as Bitcoin continues to experience elevated volatility.

BTC briefly moved above $80,000 on Tuesday before giving back some of those gains. At the time of reporting, Bitcoin was trading near $78,880, representing a decline of roughly 2% over the previous 24 hours.

Investor sentiment also cooled slightly. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index dropped to 65 from 74 the previous day, although the reading remained firmly within the “Greed” category.

The combination of strong ETF demand and volatile spot prices highlights the increasingly important role institutional flows play in Bitcoin’s short-term market dynamics.

August Could Become a Major ETF Month

The current pace puts August on track to become one of the strongest months for Bitcoin ETF demand since late 2025.

The seven-day inflow streak suggests institutional investors have continued adding exposure despite Bitcoin’s recent price fluctuations. If the trend continues through the remaining trading sessions, August could overtake October 2025 as one of the market’s strongest periods for ETF inflows.

However, the year-to-date numbers remain negative. Even after the recent recovery, the funds still have a combined net outflow of approximately $2.26 billion for 2026.

That means the recent inflows have reversed a significant portion of the earlier weakness rather than completely eliminating it.

Ether ETFs See Similar Momentum

The positive trend is not limited to Bitcoin.

US spot Ether ETFs also recorded their seventh consecutive day of net inflows, attracting approximately $179.8 million on Tuesday.

Combined inflows across the seven-session period have reached roughly $1 billion, demonstrating that institutional demand has been broadening beyond Bitcoin.

The parallel strength in Bitcoin and Ether ETFs suggests that recent crypto-market demand is increasingly extending across major digital assets rather than being concentrated in a single investment product.

Institutional Demand Remains the Key Signal

The latest figures reinforce the growing importance of ETF flows as a measure of institutional sentiment toward crypto.

Bitcoin’s price can remain volatile even when ETF demand is strong, but sustained inflows provide an important source of underlying buying pressure. If the seven-day streak continues, investors will be watching whether August can surpass previous monthly records and whether the year-to-date deficit continues shrinking.

For now, the combination of $3.03 billion in August Bitcoin ETF inflows, nearly $1 billion in recent Ether ETF inflows and Bitcoin’s repeated attempts to reclaim $80,000 points to a notable resurgence in institutional crypto demand.
