Postquant Labs Prepares Launch of QuipSwap, a Bridgeless Quantum-Resistant Cross-Chain Protocol

Postquant Labs is preparing to publicly launch QuipSwap, a cross-chain swap protocol designed to let users exchange assets between blockchains directly without conventional bridges, oracles or wrapped tokens. The project combines peer-to-peer settlement with Postquant’s broader focus on preparing blockchain infrastructure for the emerging risks posed by quantum computing.

QuipSwap Takes a Different Approach to Cross-Chain Trading

Postquant Labs, the team behind the quantum-focused quip.network ecosystem, has announced the upcoming public release of QuipSwap, a protocol designed to facilitate cross-chain transactions without relying on traditional bridging infrastructure.

The project aims to address two major challenges facing blockchain users: the security weaknesses associated with cross-chain bridges and the potential future threat quantum computers pose to existing cryptographic systems.

Rather than transferring assets through an intermediary bridge or relying on wrapped representations of tokens, QuipSwap is designed around synchronized peer-to-peer transactions between users operating on different networks.

The objective is to allow two parties to agree to a swap and execute the exchange directly, reducing the number of external components required to complete the transaction.

Removing Bridges and Intermediaries

Cross-chain bridges have become one of the most heavily targeted components of the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Their role is to connect otherwise separate blockchain networks, but their smart contracts and custody mechanisms have also created attractive targets for attackers.

QuipSwap takes a different route.

Instead of moving an asset from one blockchain to another through a bridge, the protocol coordinates transactions on the respective networks so that the participants can exchange control of their assets directly.

Postquant Labs CEO and co-founder Colton Dillion explained that the mechanism is intended to create a direct P2P settlement experience across different chains.

Under the proposed system, once one participant completes their side of the transaction, the corresponding claim mechanism becomes available to the other participant. This is designed to prevent one party from successfully taking control of the exchanged asset while leaving the other participant without the agreed settlement.

The approach eliminates the need for a conventional intermediary to coordinate the transaction.

A Cross-Chain Model Without Wrapped Assets

Traditional interoperability solutions frequently depend on wrapped tokens, where an asset from one network is represented by a corresponding token on another chain.

While this approach can expand liquidity across ecosystems, it introduces additional infrastructure and security dependencies.

QuipSwap instead seeks to preserve the native nature of assets on their respective blockchains.

In principle, users can remain on their original networks while participating in a coordinated swap with another blockchain user.

This could make cross-chain transactions simpler while reducing reliance on bridge contracts, external price feeds and centralized settlement providers.

Quantum Security Is Central to the Project

Postquant Labs is positioning QuipSwap as part of a larger effort to prepare blockchain infrastructure for the possibility of increasingly capable quantum computers.

Most existing blockchain networks depend on cryptographic mechanisms that could theoretically become vulnerable to sufficiently powerful quantum machines.

The concern is particularly relevant to public-key cryptography. A sufficiently advanced quantum computer could potentially use algorithms such as Shor’s algorithm to undermine cryptographic assumptions currently protecting certain blockchain accounts and transactions.

Postquant Labs argues that quantum resistance cannot be addressed effectively by protecting only one component of a multi-chain transaction.

If a transaction moves through infrastructure that remains vulnerable to quantum attacks, the overall security of the transaction can still be compromised.

Building a Quantum-Resistant Blockchain Ecosystem

Postquant Labs CTO and co-founder Dr. Richard Carback said the company is developing its own infrastructure because existing distributed computing systems were not designed around quantum-resistant security from the outset.

The company’s broader quip.network project is intended to combine blockchain technology with quantum-resistant cryptographic infrastructure.

According to Postquant Labs, the team has already deployed quantum-resistant wallet technology for Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana, with those products currently undergoing beta testing.

The objective is to begin strengthening blockchain infrastructure before large-scale quantum computers become capable of threatening today’s cryptographic standards.

QuipSwap Moves From Demonstration to Public Launch

The QuipSwap project has already undergone practical testing.

Postquant Labs demonstrated its live claim mechanism at ETHDenver in February, providing an early example of how the proposed cross-chain settlement process could work.

The team has since completed the protocol’s core software and subjected the system to additional testing.

Postquant Labs also said the protocol has undergone a formal security audit by Oak Security, with the audit results being released alongside the public launch.

Independent security review will be particularly important for QuipSwap because eliminating traditional bridges does not automatically eliminate all smart-contract or transaction-level risks.

The Bigger Opportunity for Cross-Chain Infrastructure

If the protocol performs as intended, QuipSwap could represent a different model for blockchain interoperability.

Instead of creating increasingly complex infrastructure connecting networks together, the protocol attempts to allow users on separate chains to interact directly.

That model could have implications for decentralized exchanges, cross-chain liquidity, decentralized finance and blockchain-based payments.

It could also reduce the amount of infrastructure that users and applications need to trust when moving value between networks.

However, the technology will still need to demonstrate that its synchronization mechanism remains reliable under real-world conditions, including failed transactions, malicious counterparties, network congestion and attempts to exploit timing differences between blockchains.

Open-Source Research Targets Quantum-Ready Standards

Postquant Labs says its research surrounding quip.network is being developed as open-source infrastructure, with the broader ambition of establishing common standards for quantum-resistant blockchain technology.

The company sees quantum resistance as a network-wide issue rather than an isolated wallet or protocol feature.

That perspective could become increasingly important as blockchain ecosystems become more interconnected.

A future in which assets routinely move between multiple networks would require security assumptions to remain consistent across each part of the transaction path.

QuipSwap’s Next Test Is Real-World Adoption

The upcoming public release will provide the first opportunity for a wider group of users and developers to evaluate QuipSwap outside controlled demonstrations.

Its success will ultimately depend on more than removing bridges from the equation. The protocol must establish strong security guarantees, sufficient liquidity, reliable execution and a user experience capable of competing with established cross-chain trading platforms.

For now, QuipSwap represents Postquant Labs’ attempt to combine bridgeless interoperability with quantum-resistant infrastructure, offering an alternative approach to one of blockchain’s longstanding challenges while preparing for a technological threat that could reshape the industry’s security architecture.
