Japanese logistics firm plans large-scale JPYC Stablecoin payments for drivers and contractors

Japanese logistics firm plans large-scale JPYC Stablecoin payments for drivers and contractors

Japanese logistics company AZ-COM Maruwa Holdings is reportedly preparing to adopt the yen-denominated JPYC stablecoin for payments to approximately 2,300 business partners and transportation contractors, potentially marking one of Japan’s first major corporate deployments of a domestic stablecoin.

According to a Nikkei report, the company plans to use JPYC to pay fees and compensation to contractors involved in its logistics network, including truck drivers. By using blockchain-based digital yen payments, AZ-COM Maruwa aims to make settlements faster, more frequent, and potentially less costly than conventional bank transfers.

The initiative could demonstrate a practical use case for stablecoins beyond cryptocurrency trading. Logistics businesses often manage large networks of independent drivers, subcontractors, and suppliers, making payment speed and transaction costs important operational considerations.

AZ-COM Maruwa is also reportedly considering a strategic partnership with JPYC Inc., along with a potential investment exceeding 1 billion yen, or roughly $6.2 million.

The logistics company serves major customers, including Amazon Japan, giving the planned rollout broader significance for the adoption of blockchain-based payments in Japan’s commercial sector.

JPYC CEO Noritaka Okabe said the company intends to continue integrating logistics and commercial payment flows with its stablecoin infrastructure.

If successfully implemented at scale, the initiative could provide an important test of how yen-denominated stablecoins can function in everyday corporate payments, particularly for contractor settlements, supply chains, and business-to-business transactions.

Rather than replacing traditional banking entirely, the model could show how regulated digital currencies can complement existing payment infrastructure by enabling faster settlement and more flexible payment cycles for businesses and workers.
